Alberta, Canada
A directory, not a job board
Work in Alberta points you to the places that actually post Alberta work: the job boards, the recruiters, the governments and the companies that hire directly. Every listing has been visited by hand.
Alberta sits in Western Canada, bordered by British Columbia to the west, Saskatchewan to the east, the Northwest Territories to the north and the American state of Montana to the south. It is one of Canada’s three Prairie provinces, but unlike Manitoba and Saskatchewan it shares the Canadian Rockies with British Columbia — its western border follows the Continental Divide.
Edmonton, the capital, lies just south of the centre of the province and is the main supply and service hub for the oil sands and the northern resource industries. Calgary is one of Canada’s major commercial centres and a distribution and transportation hub. Both metropolitan areas have passed one million people, Calgary slightly ahead of Edmonton. Smaller centres worth a look include Red Deer, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Fort McMurray, Grande Prairie, Camrose, Lloydminster, Wetaskiwin, Banff and Jasper.
